Nothing happens when I press play in Immersive Reader for OneNote

Solution 1: Check your volume

If words are highlighted, but you don’t hear any sound:

  1. Exit Immersive Reader.

  2. Turn up the volume on your device.

  3. Reopen Immersive Reader and select Play.

If there’s still no sound, try the next solution.

Solution 2: Check the volume on speakers

If you're using speakers:

  1. Check that speakers have power and are turned on.

  2. Turn up the volume on the speakers.

  3. Select Play.

If you still don’t hear anything, try the next solution.

Solution 3: Check the connection of your speakers and headphones

If you're using speakers or headphones:

  1. Unplug speakers or headphones from your computer.

  2. Plug them back in.

  3. Select Play.

If there’s still no sound, try the next solution.

Solution 4: In Windows, check that speakers or headphones are turned on

  1. Open the Sound Control Panel from your task bar.

  2. Make sure at least one device has a green checkmark.

  3. If there are no devices with a green checkmark, right-click on a device’s icon and select Enable.

  4. Close and reopen OneNote, then open Immersive Reader.

  5. Select Play.
