You can configure Office for Mac to show or hide the vertical or horizontal scroll bars. In newer versions, you configure these settings in Mac System Preferences. In Office for Mac 2011, you configure the settings within each app.
By default, when you move your cursor near the edge of a document, workbook, notebook, or slide, horizontal and vertical cursors appear so that you can scroll through the contents. However, if you prefer to have scroll bars always visible, you can turn them on so that they show up in all programs.
Change when scroll bars are visible in all applications
Note: When you change scroll bar settings, it changes them for every application on your Mac, not just Office.
