Subtract values in Excel using the minus sign (-). You can subtract cells, individual values, or a mix.

For example:

  • =A9-A10

  • =50-30

  • =H9-20

Subtract in Excel

  1. Select a cell.

  2. Type =.

  3. Type a number or select a cell.

  4. Type a minus sign (-).

  5. Type a number or select a cell to subtract.

  6. Press Enter.
