Use your keyboard and a screen reader such as NVDA or Narrator, the built-in Windows screen reader, to update Skype (version 7) to Skype (version 8).

Notes:

  • This topic assumes that you are using the built-in Windows screen reader, Narrator. To learn more about using Narrator, go to Complete guide to Narrator.

Update from Skype (version 7) to Skype (version 8)

Upgrading Skype is quick and easy. Your account information will automatically and securely sync to the latest update, including password, contacts, and conversation history from the last year.

To upgrade to the latest version of Skype, do one of the following:

  • In Skype, press the Tab key until you reach the Help button and press Enter. The Help menu opens. Press the Tab key until you reach the Check for Updates button and press Enter.

  • Use your browser to visit Download Skype. Press the Tab key until you reach the Update for free link and press Enter.
