We briefly looked at Word for the web in the Office Basics lesson. But now let's explore the desktop version of Word. I already have Word pinned to my start screen. Your copy may be in a different location. Personally, I like to use the online version of the Microsoft apps for quick and dirty edits, but if I need the full power of a word processor, then the desktop version is my go-to application. As with the online version, you can open up an existing file that you've been working on, you can create a brand new blank document, or you can go ahead and use one of the hundreds of templates that is available to you.

I'm going to go ahead and start off with a blank document. We are going to create a very quick document outlining business meetings at The Landon Hotel. Let's first start off by adding in our logo. Simply click Insert. This is one of our pictures. It happens to be in OneDrive. And there we go, we simply added in the logo. Now let's add in a blurb about business meetings at The Landon Hotel. I already have our information in the clipboard, therefore I'll just go ahead and paste it right into our document.

Perfect. That looks about right. The last thing I'd like to change out is our Business Meetings. I'd like to change this heading. Let's make it a little bit bigger. All I've done is I right-clicked on the selected text, and a submenu pops up for me. I could also make these changes from the Home tab in our ribbon as well. Let's go ahead and make that a 14. And let's change the color. We'll change that to purple to match our logo. Perfect. I think I'll move it down just a little bit. Awesome.

And finally, let's go ahead and turn on Track Changes. This will let us know if somebody's made edits to our document. You'll find Track Changes in Review, and then just simply click on Track Changes. Now once somebody makes an edit, you will see it in this document.

Fine, let's go ahead and save and print this document. To do so, you'll click on File, and now you're in the backstage. We'll click on Save As. I'm going to pop it in to OneDrive.

That way it's always available to me. I'm going to go ahead and click Save. And then to Print, back into File, into the backstage, select Print, and now we have all of our settings for our print. We have our printer models. We go ahead and select the number of copies. If this was multiple pages, which page numbers do we want to print, et cetera. As I've just turned on Track Changes for this document, we will not see any edits until somebody has changed the document.

Let's go ahead and open up a document that had Track Changes already applied, and a user has already made some edits for us. To do so, I'm going to look under File, and Open. We have a list of documents that have been recently opened. The one I'm specifically looking for is the quarterly sales meeting. I'm going to pop back into the Review tab to ensure that all markup is turned on. This way I can see all of the edits that Cecilia made. We can see that Cecilia changed the font, and formatted for no bullets.

We can also see that she changed the time from 10:30 to 10:15. And it looks like she changed the font on our last bulleted item. And we can go ahead and accept or decline these changes. So let's go ahead and take this one and accept that change. Perfect. That change is now accepted. And that's all we're going to do here.
