When you are working in Thumbnail or Filmstrip view, file names display under each picture by default. You can hide the file names to fit more files in the view.

Note: Picture Manager is not supported in Office 2013 and later versions. For Windows 10 we recommend using the Photos app that you can install for free from the Microsoft Store in Windows.

Show or hide file names

  1. On the View menu, click Show File Names.

  2. If no check mark appears next to the command, Microsoft Office Picture Manager won't display the file names. If a check mark appears next to the command, Picture Manager will display the file names.

  3. If you hide file names, you can still see them under the preview pane when a picture is selected.
