If you would like to cancel your Outlook.com Premium subscription and personalized email domain acquired through Microsoft, no action is required. Simply allow your subscription expiration date (listed on https://account.microsoft.com/services) to pass and do not purchase another year of subscription benefits.
If you would like to renew your Outlook.com Premium subscription and personalized email domain acquired through Microsoft, you need to wait for the subscription expiration date (listed on https://account.microsoft.com/services) to pass. Once it does, a “Renew” button will appear next to your Outlook.com Premium subscription, which you can use to purchase another year of subscription and personalized email benefits. You should receive a reminder email on or around the expiration date, and will have 30 days to complete your renewal.
Auto-renewal is not supported for Outlook.com Premium. The only way to renew your subscription is to wait until it expires and complete the steps listed above. As long as you renew your subscription within 30 days of the expiration date, you will not lose your personalized email benefits.
I was part of the Outlook.com Premium pilot and want to renew my subscription using the current promotional price. How do I do that?
Your domain as well as your Outlook.com Premium service will automatically renew as long as you have an active Outlook.com Premium or Ad-free Outlook.com subscription. To check your active subscriptions, go to https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in using the Microsoft account you used for the Outlook.com Premium pilot. If you do not have an active subscription you can buy one by clicking here. Please note that if you do not have an active subscription, your Outlook.com Premium service as well as the associated domain will expire one year after the date you started the Outlook.com Premium pilot. Once the domain expires it cannot be renewed.
I purchased Outlook.com Premium within the past 30 days. Can I cancel my Outlook.com Premium subscription and receive a refund?
Yes, you can cancel your subscription from the Outlook.com Premium dashboard:
Go to https://premium.outlook.com.
Select Advanced settings > Manage subscription > Cancel subscription.
Yes, your personalized Outlook.com Premium email address requires a current Outlook.com Premium subscription. If you cancel your Outlook.com Premium subscription, your personalized email address (and email domain) will also be canceled immediately.
Yes, if you cancel your Outlook.com Premium subscription, your personalized email domain will also be canceled. If you created a new domain during the registration process, Microsoft registered and purchased that domain on your behalf. Microsoft retains ownership of the domain for 60 days, after which ownership of the domain passes to the registrar. The registrar has the right to sell the domain.
You (and other people that you invited to join your Outlook.com Premium domain) will no longer be able to send or receive email using your personalized email address or domain. However, you can continue to send and receive email using email addresses ending in @hotmail.com, @live.com, @msn.com, or @outlook.com.
No, you will not lose your domain if you cancel your Outlook.com Premium subscription. You will need to update your MX records, since MX records direct email messages that are sent to your domain name to your email provider. If your MX records do not point to your email provider, you can’t receive email.
No, you won’t lose access to your existing email if you cancel your Outlook.com Premium subscription. However, you won’t be able to send or receive email using your personalized email address. You can continue to send and receive email using email addresses ending in @hotmail.com, @live.com, @msn.com, or @outlook.com.
You can’t renew or cancel your subscription if your personalized email address is set as your primary alias or default “From” address. Go to Manage how you sign in to Microsoft and make an alternate email address your primary alias or default “From” address before renewing or canceling your subscription.
