How to upload a file to a library

  1. Go to your library by typing its URL in your Web browser.

  2. At the top of the page, click the Documents tab.

  3. Click Upload Document.

  4. To upload a single file, click Browse. To upload multiple files, click Upload Multiple Files, and then click Browse for files instead.

  5. Select the file(s), and then click Open.

  6. Click OK.

  7. If necessary, click Done.

  8. If you do not see your files in the library, refresh the browser by pressing F5.

How to save to a library from Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2010

  1. Click the File tab, and then click Save As.

  2. In the File name box, type the URL for your library, and then click Save.
    Note Only include the portion of the URL up to “Forms.”

    Correct:
    http://contoso/sites/sales/Shared%20Documents/

    Incorrect:
    http://contoso/sites/sales/Shared%20Documents/Forms/AllItems.aspx

  3. After the library appears, type a file name, and then click the Save button.

How to view a file

  1. Go to your library by typing its URL in your Web browser.

  2. Hover over the file name, and then click the menu.

  3. Click View in browser to quickly review the file.

  4. If certain features or tools are missing from the browser, click Open in <program name> on the File menu.

How to edit a file

  1. Go to your library by typing its URL in your Web browser.

  2. Hover over the file name, and then click the menu.

  3. Click Edit in browser to make quick changes. Or, click Edit in <program name> to make more substantial changes in the program.
