Play My Emails

Get started with Outlook on your iOS or Android device, use Play My Emails to skip, flag, archive, and delete emails, and personalize Play My Emails.

Important: Play My Emails is currently available in the following languages: English (United States, Canada, Australia, India, and Great Britain), Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish (Spain and Mexico), and French (France and Canada). If you are using Play My Emails in a different language than those listed, you'll need to use the commands from a supported language.

Get started

  1. Select your account picture to open the side menu

  2. Tap the Play button

  3. Complete set up instructions

  4. Start listening and interacting with your inbox using voice assistance from Cortana

Use your voice for the following actions

After reading each email, Cortana will ask you what you want to do:

  • Reply

  • Skip

  • Flag

  • Archive

  • Delete

You can interact with Cortana anytime you're using Play My Emails by pressing the microphone button.

Tip: For English (United States, Canada, Australia, India, and Great Britain) and Portuguese (Brazil), you can use "Hey Cortana" as a wake word before you use the words above.

Personalize Play My Emails

Select Account > Settings. From here, you can: 

  • Customize swipe options

  • Ask Siri to Play My Emails

To change whether played emails stay Read or Unread, go to Account > Settings > Play My Emails.

Tip: For English (United States and Canada) you can personalize the voice of Cortana to be feminine or masculine.
