Download OneDrive for Android - v5.42 (October 31, 2019)

Note: The Google Play store and the OneDrive app for Android aren't available in China. Also, because OneDrive.com is blocked in China by the government firewall, the OneDrive app won't work in China when you sign in with a Microsoft account.

What's new

  • For our consumer customers we load your photos faster and with a bit more flair.

  • For our business customers, you can now create Word and PowerPoint files from the plus button in the top right.

  • Note that you now need Android 6.0 or newer to install the OneDrive Android app.

Pre-releases

Join the OneDrive Preview for Android and get early access to new features in the OneDrive Android app.

OneDrive for Android release notes

This wouldn't be possible without your feedback. If you run into any issues, please open the app, shake your device and tap "Report a Problem."

  • Fixed a bug that was making it difficult to sign in, made a few things a bit faster, and polished up a few surfaces.

  • In addition to a PIN Code, you'll now be able to use your fingerprint to lock the OneDrive app.

  • We've improved our grid view to help your photos stand out and look their best as well as making it easier than ever to see what photos are getting backed up in the Photos tab.

Download OneDrive for iOS - v11.8.7 (November 13, 2019)

What's new

  • High Efficiency Image photos (Apple's default image format) will now be uploaded in their original .heic format. This will preserve original image quality and keep files sizes nice and light - saving users space in OneDrive. This update will affect users on iOS 11 or above when using an iPhone 7 or newer.

Pre-releases.

Join the OneDrive Preview for iOS and get early access to new features in the OneDrive iOS app.

OneDrive for iOS release notes

This wouldn't be possible without your feedback. If you run into any issues, please open the app, shake your device and tap "Report a Problem."

  • Our files icon in the tab bar was a bit blurry. This has been fixed and we are now seeing 20-20.

  • For business users, the Discover view has a new home in the left drawer between Offline Files and Recycle Bin.

  • We fixed an issue with the Expiring Links date picker where you couldn't actually see the days. Even though the days of the week can sometimes blur together, we think picking a date is still important. Our premium users can once again select a custom expiration date for their sharing links.

  • The shared view got even better now with new groupings for who shared documents to you and when they were shared. Getting back to your collaborative work is a breeze when you can easily organize your shared view!

  • iOS 13 users sharing OneDrive files - via the Messages app - may have noticed the app having a rough time. We sent it to OS school and it came back a lean, mean, messaging machine.

  • Some iPad users were experiencing an unresponsive OneDrive when coming back to the app - black screen, app crashes, the works. This has been fixed and the app will work as expected.

  • Users doing a very specific set of actions in a shared library would see the top bar selfishly cover the Shared Library icon. Boundaries have been restored for these components and this has been fixed.

  • We've fixed an issue with our multi window experience on iPad preventing some PDFs and Office files from being able to open in a new window. This has been fixed and all your PDFs, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files should now successfully open in a new window

  • The iPad command menu would jump around on screen like a less fun version of whack a mole. We've dialed down our menu's energy level to a 7, and it will now stay in one place.

  • Notification badges for uploading photos, those red doodads with the number, would show when Camera Upload was turned off. We have revised our abacus logic, and these notifications now know the difference between on and off.

• iOS 13 users who opened the share sheet and subsequently tried to change sharing options would experience the app to crash. This has been fixed and has given us the opportunity to shamelessly plug our industry leading sharing options.

  • When in the Photos view, rotating the phone sideways could cause the app to crash. This made Zero G photo viewing nearly impossible - so it's been fixed.

  • Sharing a file from split screen on an iPad would cause the app to crash. Sharing is caring but this wasn't very caring of us. This has been fixed.

  • We had a bit of a layout blunder where certain text was getting cut off in some screens. This has been fixed, and our eloquent text can once again be fully appreciated.

  • We fixed an issue with our Share Extension in some apps where the signed in accounts weren't displaying. This has been fixed and you should once again be able to save files to OneDrive from these apps using the Share Extension.

  • We fixed an issue causing the app to consistently crash for some users. While a reinstall fixes this issue, we've also cleaned this up in this version and the app should be running smoothly once again.

  • We fixed an issue causing the sharing link description to hide for iOS 13 users. We're happy to report that the link hint has since gotten over its stage fright and should one again be displayed for all users.

  • We've added support for the new iOS 13 Multiple Windows feature on iPads. If you've got an iPad with iOS 13 handy, you can now open multiple files at once for your viewing and editing needs.

  • Tapping on notifications for shared Office documents sometimes crashed the app. This is now fixed.

  • Some users saw an error message when opening Microsoft Visio files. This has been fixed. These files now open in Microsoft Visio Viewer app.

  • In light of the new iOS 13 Dark Mode, the app now supports dark mode. To use the app in dark mode, turn on the new Dark Appearance feature on your iOS 13 device. Night lights sold separately.

  • We fixed an issue where file thumbnails were jumping around the screen. The thumbnails have done their deep breathing, calmed down, and now will stay in place.

  • iOS 11 users were seeing a mix of colors while using the app. This has been fixed.

  • Some business users were experiencing a crash when scanning a file. This too has been fixed.

  • The app now has a new look and feel and our design team can rest easy. The header now sports a bolder look, search is easier to find, and things should just feel a little more familiar on your device.

  • Our Settings page also received a late summer cleanse. Things will be a little easier to find and fine tune to your preference.

  • Our scan icon - yes, that was a scan icon - now looks like a camera. This should alleviate some confusion around why a car rim was so prominent in the app. Tap the newly minted icon to digitize documents, whiteboards and even old photos.

  • And lastly, editing PDFs just got much, much easier. Doodling on PDFs or doing, you know, actual work is now a breeze. You’ll find our pens, eraser, and highlighter neatly placed at the bottom of the screen.

  • Our text file viewer was having trouble rendering some characters. This has been fixed and now you should be able to understand the file content without being fluent in binary gibberish.

  • Sometimes, the app would switch from Personal to Business accounts when opening the app. This has also been ironed out and work life balance can once again be restored.

  • "Bold Text" users on the bleeding edge of iOS 13 Beta were experiencing a crash in the app. We're happy to report this has been fixed, and we thank you for your bold beta testing.

  • When sending sharing links in other apps, like iMessage and Mail, the app header would unexpectedly turn transparent. We're all for transparency, just not this kind.

  • File sizes on mobile weren't matching what was showing on OneDrive web. Unfortunately, this was a bug and not ground breaking middle out compression. Fortunately, this has been fixed.

  • When marking up some shared PDFs - like playing meeting hangman, or reinforcing I after E - edits weren't actually uploading for some users. They now will upload.

  • Users whose emails ended with "_", such as OneDriveFan4Life_@outlook.com, were unable to sign in to the app. This has been fixed by our engineer James_, and users like OneDriveFan4Life_ can once again sign into the app.

  • Safari pages as PDFs, uploaded via the Files app, were appearing to upload successfully - but in reality were successfully unsuccessful. We've fixed this problem and these uploads will appear, and actually, successfully upload.

  • This update contains bug fixes and stability improvements.

  • Text translation wasn't working for some users, turning a few options in the Settings page into a confusing game of 'guess that setting.' This has been fixed, and will look and read as you'd expect.

  • Now it's even easier to collaborate with others with our new and improved shared view for business customers! It's even easier to find things now that you can see who has shared documents with you and when they were shared.

  • File and folder names starting with the ^ character were showing as an empty name. We've fixed this issue and ^these ^file ^names ^will ^now ^all ^work. ^.^

  • This update also contains other bug fixes and stability improvements.

We fixed an issue where some users got stuck with endless loading after signing into a business account. Now, users can get right to their files post sign in - as you'd expect.

We've updated the color of our folder icon to a mix of tuscany and honey with of hint of butterscotch. Some call it just an icon update, but we call it the gold standard.

We've updated our app icon to reflect how we're simplifying and modernizing cloud productivity - with carefully crafted experiences that honor our Office heritage and welcome the future.

We fixed an issue with our Expiring Links date picker where the date and day of the week weren't displaying correctly. Rest assured that though Wednesdays can sometimes feel like Mondays, our date picker now has it sorted.
