Manage groups in Kaizala

View participants list and count

To view the details of group participants:

  • Open the group conversation, and then tap Group Info.

    • The names of all of the participants are shown in the Participants list.

    • The number count of participants in the group is shown directly below the group name.

    • If the group contains subgroups, the subgroup count will be visible. In addition, admins can select subgroups to view a list of subgroup participants.

Remove users from a group

To remove a user from a group:

  1. Open the group conversation, and then tap Group Info.

  2. In the Participants list, tap the name of the user you want to remove.

  3. Tap Remove From Group.

    Note: Only an admin can remove users. If a user is removed from an organization group, the user's group data can be cleared.

Assign or remove the admin role to a user

Admins can choose to make any other member an admin of the group.

To assign an admin role to a user in the group:

  1. Open the group conversation, and then tap Group Info.

  2. In the Participants list, tap the name of the user you want to make an admin of the group.

  3. Tap Make Admin.

To remove the admin role from a user in the group:

  1. Open the group conversation, and then tap Group Info.

  2. In the Participants list, tap the name of the user from whom you want to remove the admin role.

  3. Tap Remove As Admin.

Link a group to an organization

If you have signed in to your Office 365 work account on the Kaizala app, your personal groups can be converted to organizational groups at any time. To do this, open group conversation > go to Group Info page > tap on the 3 dots in the top right corner > tap Add to My Organization. Note that only admins can link groups to organization. Once linked, the name of the organization is displayed beneath the group name.

To link a personal group to an organization:

  1. Open the group conversation, and then tap Group Info.

  2. In the upper right corner, tap More Image of the More icon in Kaizala , and then tap Add to My Organization.

    Note: Only an admin can link groups to organization. Once linked, the name of the organization is displayed below the group name.

Leave a group

You can leave a Kaizala group at anytime. If you are the only admin of the group and there are other members left, you must first assign the admin role to another user and then leave the group. If you leave an organization or public group, your chat history will be cleared.

To leave a group:

  1. Open the group conversation, and then tap Group Info.

  2. In the upper right corner, tap More Image of the More icon in Kaizala , and then tap Leave.

Mute or unmute a group

You can mute a group to stop receiving notifications for messages or likes and comments received in a group. Notifications will be muted even if someone replies to one of your messages.

To mute a group:

  • On Android, from the Chats list, press and hold the group conversation, and then tap Mute group.

  • On iOS, from the Chats list, select the group conversation and swipe left, and then tap Mute group.

Alternatively, you can also:

  1. Open the group conversation, and then tap Group Info.

  2. In the upper right corner, tap More Image of the More icon in Kaizala , and then tap Mute.

To unmute a group:

  • On Android, from the Chats list, press and hold the group conversation, and then tap Unmute.

  • On iOS, from the Chats list, select the group conversation and swipe left, and then tap Unmute.

Alternatively, you can also:

  1. Open the group conversation, and then tap Group Info.

  2. In the upper right corner, tap More Image of the More icon in Kaizala , and then tap Unmute.

Delete a group

Deleting a group removes the group from the Chats list after you have left the group. If you are the only admin in the group, you will need to assign the admin role to at least one user in the group before deleting.

To delete a group:

  1. From the Chats list, press and hold the group conversation.

  2. Tap Delete group.

Change the profile picture of a group

To change the profile picture of your group:, go to Group Info page > tap on the camera icon on the profile picture >

  1. Open the group conversation, and then tap Group Info.

  2. On the profile picture, tap Camera Image of the Camera icon in Kaizala .

  3. Take a new photo or pick one from your gallery.

    Note: Any group participant can change the group photo.

Change a group name

To change the name of a group:

  1. Open the group conversation, and then tap Group Info.

  2. Near the group name, tap Edit Image of the Edit icon in Kaizala .

  3. Change the name, and then tap the check mark.

    Note: Any group participant can change the group name.

Pin or unpin a group

You can pin a group to display it at the top of your Chats list at all times. Even if messages are received in other groups, the pinned groups will always show up at the top. Up to 10 conversations can be pinned at a time.

To pin a group:

  • On Android, from the Chats list, press and hold the group conversation, and then tap Pin conversation.

  • On iOS, from the Chats list, select the group conversation and swipe left, tap More Image of the More icon in Kaizala , and then tap Pin conversation.

To unpin a group:

  • On Android, from the Chats list, press and hold the group conversation, and then tap Unpin this conversation.

  • On iOS, from the Chats list, select the group conversation and swipe left, tap More Image of the More icon in Kaizala , and then tap Unpin this conversation.

Set group policies

Group and organization admins can configure group policies for organization groups and public groups. Policies give you greater control on how participants interact within a group, such as whether they can share and forward content. Group policies can be configured only for organization or public groups and not for private groups. For more information, see Kaizala management portal.
