There are several ways to join a Lync Meeting using Lync for iPad. Once you join, you should be able to hear the meeting audio, see the video of other participants (if they are using video), and view any meeting content being shared. You can also quickly rejoin a meeting or resume an earlier conversation with those who were in it. And you can join a Lync Meeting on your iPad without signing in to Lync or even having a Lync account.

Join a meeting or audio or video conference call
To join a Lync Meeting, from the left, tap the fourth icon to get to the Meetings screen.
From the Meetings screen, select the meeting that you want to join, and then tap Join Meeting.
Depending on how you set your VoIP call options, one of the following happens:
You’ll be connected to audio or video using VoIP either by using Wi-Fi (if you connected to a Wi-Fi network), or your cellular data plan.
Or, Lync calls you on your mobile phone and you’ll need to accept the Lync call in order to join the meeting. This happens only when your audio or video call options are set to ON and your device isn’t connect to a Wi-Fi network.
Join a Lync Meeting or conference call by phone
You can also dial in to the meeting from any phone by dialing the Join by Phone numbers listed in the meeting invitation. The dial-in phone number is listed towards the bottom of the meeting request.
After you dial in, your phone number is displayed in the meeting roster.
Wait in the meeting lobby
The meeting lobby is an online waiting area. The meeting leader can control access to the meeting, or admit someone who doesn’t have the correct meeting credentials.
If the meeting leader has enabled the meeting lobby, you’ll need to wait until the meeting leader admits you to the meeting. If you’re waiting in the lobby, don’t move to another app because your request to join the meeting will be cancelled if you do.
Join a Lync Meeting if you aren’t a Lync user or aren’t signed in to Lync
You can join a Lync Meeting on your iPad without signing in to Lync or even having a Lync account. Here’s how:
Install Lync 2013 (from the App store for iPad) in advance of the meeting. (If you don’t install Lync beforehand, you’ll be prompted to install it when you try to join the meeting.)
Don’t sign in to Lync.
When you tap the meeting link on your mobile device, you’ll get a Lync prompt to join the meeting.
Tap Sign in as a guest.
Once you enter your name, you’ll be admitted to the conversation window for the meeting (or into the Lobby if the meeting leader has decided to use that feature).
Here are some things you can and can’t do as a meeting guest if you’re not signed in to Lync:
Open the Meeting settings screen and change your settings for using Wi-Fi with video and meeting content, and for Text telephone (TTY) mode.
View the meeting roster and see names and titles of the other participants.
Be promoted to presenter and have the same presenter capabilities from the roster as others.
Navigate to any Lync screens other than the Meeting conversation screen and the Meeting settings screen.
Open a contact card from the roster.
See contact photos in the roster or active speaker area.
Add someone to a call
To add someone else to a call, do either of the following:
From the Conversations screen, tap the More icon, then tap Invite, and tap the contact you want to add to the call.
From the Participants list, tap the Add (+) icon (upper-right corner of the screen), then find the contact, tap their name, and then tap Lync Call or tap the Phone icon. Lync will call the person and add them to the conversation.
Rejoin a meeting
If you have to temporarily leave a Lync meeting or get disconnected for any reason, you can rejoin it by clicking the Rejoin button in the notification or on the Conversation screen.
Note: If you’re not in the Lync app when you get disconnected, you may see a notification that you were disconnected, but you will need to return to the Lync app to tap Rejoin.
Resume a conversation
To pick up a conversation where you left off, tap the Chats icon at left of the Lync screen, scroll down the list until you find the conversation you want to resume, and tap the listing for that conversation. When you send an IM or call the participants, Lync will send a new invite to everyone who was in the original conversation and will include the history of the conversation in the message.
