Get the word count of a page

Sometimes it’s helpful to get the word count for a page of notes. While there’s no way to display the word count directly in OneNote, you can use Microsoft Word to do it.

  1. In OneNote, do one of the following:

    • Click the top of the note container that appears when you move the mouse over the text you want to select.

    • Press Ctrl+A repeatedly until all the text on the current page is selected.

  2. Press Ctrl+C to copy the selection.

  3. Start Microsoft Word, create a blank document, and then press Ctrl+V to paste your notes.

  4. In Word, click Review > Word Count to see the number of words your notes contain.
