Get Office on a phone

Your browser does not support video. Install Microsoft Silverlight, Adobe Flash Player, or Internet Explorer 9.

In addition to installing Office apps, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and OneNote, on your PC or Mac, you can also set them up on your phone.

Get Office apps on an iPhone

  1. On an iPhone, go to the App Store, search for the Office app that you want, and install it.

  2. Sign in with your Apple ID, if prompted.

  3. Open the app, enter your Office 365 email address and password, and then tap Sign In.

  4. Choose to allow the Office app to send you notifications.

  5. After swiping through the guided tour, you can create new documents from your phone, or open a recent document created on your PC or Mac and continue working on it using your phone.

Get Office apps on an Android phone

  1. On an Android phone, go to the Play Store, search for the Office app that you want, and install it.

  2. Open the app, enter your Office 365 email address and password, and then tap Sign In.

  3. Choose to allow the Office app to access your contacts.

  4. After swiping through the guided tour, you can create new documents from your phone, or open a recent document created on your PC or Mac and continue working on it using your phone.

Get Office apps on a Windows Phone

Windows Phone 8 comes with Office installed, which includes Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. OneNote is included as a separate app. To access your work documents, just make sure you've added the work email account that you use with Office 365.

  1. On a Windows phone, in the app list, go to Settings, and then tap email + accounts.

  2. Tap add an account.

  3. On the Add an Account page, tap Exchange. (Tap Outlook if you're using Windows Phone 7 or Windows Phone 7.5.)

  4. Enter your Office 365 email address and password, and then tap sign in.

  5. The Windows Phone automatically locates your account settings and syncs your Office 365 documents. You can create new documents from your phone, or open a recent document created on your PC or Mac and continue working on it using your phone.

After you've set up your email and Office apps on your PC or Mac, you'll want to set them up on your phone to stay productive on the go. Let's first set it up on an iPhone, then an Android.

Go to the App Store and search for an Office app, like OneNote. Install the app. When it's finished, choose Open. Then sign in.

Enter your Office 365 email address, then Next.

Type your password, then Sign in.

Choose OK to keep track of notes with push notifications, then Allow.

Choose your account, and start working in OneNote or open previous notes.

On an Android, go to the Play Store and search for OneNote. Then Install. When it finishes, choose Open.

When prompted, allow OneNote to access your contacts.

You can start taking notes, or open previous notes.

To get more Office apps, like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, repeat these steps for each app.
