Using the FAST Search Site Administration features, you can manage site settings to improve search results. If you have FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint installed, the following options are available under Site Settings > Site Collection Administration:

  • Manage FAST Search keywords

FAST Search keywords can have definitions and synonyms connected to them. You can add Best Bets, Visual Best Bets, document promotions and demotions to improve relevance and create targeted communication.

You can associate Best Bets, Visual Best Bets, document promotions and document demotions with defined user contexts in order to personalize the user experience.

  • Manage FAST Search site promotion and demotion

You can use site promotions or demotions to improve relevance. Documents that belong to highly relevant sites can be given a soft site promotion that will cause the documents to appear higher on the result list

You can associate site promotions or demotions with defined user contexts to promote or demote specific sites for certain users or user groups.

  • Manage FAST Search user contexts

Site collection administrators can define relevant user contexts for their site. These user contexts can then be associated with settings such as Best Bets and document promotions.
