Export mailbox and delete search history in Outlook.com

Outlook.com stores your email, calendar items, and contacts in your mailbox. You can request a copy of your mailbox at any time from the Settings menu. You can also delete your search history or export it as a comma-separated values (.csv) file.

Choose your version for instructions

The instructions are slightly different depending on whether or not you're using the Outlook.com beta. Choose which version of Outlook.com you're using to see the instructions that apply to you.

Instructions for the Outlook.com beta

  1. Select Settings Settings > View full settings.

  2. Select General > Privacy and data.

  3. Do one of the following:

    • To export your mailbox, select Export mailbox.

      Note: This process may take up to 48 hours. After a copy of your mailbox is ready, you'll receive an email with a link to download the content of your mailbox. This feature is not available for Office 365 accounts using Outlook on the web.

    • To delete your search history, select Delete history.

    • To export your search history to a .csv file, select Export.

Instructions for classic Outlook.com

Note: You can't export your mailbox in classic Outlook.com. To export your mailbox, turn on the Outlook.com beta.

  1. Select Settings Settings > Options.

  2. In the Options pane, select General > Export.

  3. Do one of the following:

    • To delete your search history, select Delete history.

    • To export your search history to a .csv file, select Export.
