Printer

Name

Displays the name of the current printer. To change the printer, select another printer from the list.

Properties

Opens a dialog box where you can specify printer properties such as paper size, orientation, and print resolution. The options available depend on your printer. For details, see your printer's documentation. Note that these settings apply only to the current print job.

Status

Specifies whether the printer is available and whether it is your default printer.

Type

Specifies the type of printer you will be printing to.

Where

Specifies the location of the printer (its port or network location).

Comment

Specifies additional information about the printer.

No Background

Prints each page without its background.

Color as black

Prints all colors as black to ensure that all shapes are visible in the printed drawing. This is useful if a monochrome printer translates very light colors in a drawing to white, rather than a shade of gray.

Print to file

Sends the information for printing to a file on a disk, rather than to the printer. When you click OK, the Print To File dialog box opens, in which you name the print file and specify where it is saved. You can send the resulting print file from any computer connected to the printer specified for the drawing file, even if Microsoft Office Visio is not installed on that computer.

Page range

All

Prints every page in the drawing file in the order in which the pages are stored in the file. This is the default setting.

Current page

Prints the currently displayed drawing page.

  • If the page is a foreground page, prints the current foreground page and all of its background pages.

  • If the page is a background page, prints the background and any backgrounds assigned to it.

  • If you are in Print Preview mode, specifies to print the current tile.

Pages (from to)

Prints only the specific range of pages identified by the values you type in the From and To boxes.

Selection

Prints the currently selected shapes.

Current view

Prints the part of the drawing that shows in the program window.

Size to fit one sheet

Reduces the area to fit onto the paper size set in the Page Setup dialog box.

Number of copies

Specifies how many copies to print (the default is 1).
