Moving a task so that it finishes on a nonworking day

You have moved a task so that it finishes on a nonworking day. If you specify that work on a task ends on a nonworking day, Microsoft Project cannot schedule any work to be done on that task during that day. The task will actually finish on the previous available working day. In the Gantt Chart view, nonworking time is indicated by gray vertical bars by default.

Note: Go to Set the general working days and times for a project for additional information.

Using the Planning Wizard, you can:

Move the task to finish on the previous working day.

Project will move the task so that it finishes on the previous available working day.

Allow the task to finish on the nonworking day.

Project will move the task so that it finishes on the nonworking day. However, no actual work will be done on the task that day.

Make the day a working day.

Project will move the task to the specified day and change that day to a working day. The working hours for this day are from 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. and 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. If your calendar uses different hours than these, you can change the hours for the new working day. On the Project tab in Project 2016, 2013, or 2010, click Change Working Time.

If you choose to make the day a working day, be sure to check the resource calendars of any resources assigned to the task. If the day is not a working day for your resources, no work will be done on the task.

If you don't want the Planning Wizard to display this information again, select the Don't tell me about this again check box.
