Use the Visual Reports - New Template dialog box to design a new template from which to create reports from data in your project plan that you can display visually using Microsoft Office Excel or Microsoft Office Visio. You can:

  • Specify whether the template uses Microsoft Office Excel or Microsoft Office Visio.

  • Specify the type of data to be used by the template, for example, Task Usage or Assignment Summary.

  • Select the fields you want to use in the template.

On the Report menu, click Visual Reports. Click the New Template button.

Details

1. Select Application

Excel    Select this option if the new template is to be used to create a visual report in Microsoft Office Excel. This option is the default.

Visio (Metric)    Select this option if the new template is to be used to create a visual report in Microsoft Office Visio.

2. Select Data Type

Choose the data on which you want to report    In the list, click the type of data for the report. The choices are Task Usage, Resource Usage, Assignment Usage, Task Summary, Resource Summary, or Assignment Summary.

3. Select Fields

Field Picker    Click this button to open the Visual Reports - Field Picker dialog box. Using this dialog box, you can select the built-in fields and custom fields whose data are to be used in the new report template.
