Beginning in March of 2018 we are discontinuing support of the Malay and Kazakh languages for display settings in Access 2016, and of those two, plus Hindi, for display settings in Publisher 2016. Additionally we're deprecating support for those three languages on support.office.com, templates.office.com, store.office.com and products.office.com.

Web support

Users of support.office.com, templates.office.com, store.office.com and products.office.com who attempt to access one of those sites in Hindi or Malay will be automatically redirected to the English-language version of those sites for their respective countries.

Users of those sites who are trying to use Kazakh will be redirected to the Russian-language version of the site.

What about my other Office desktop applications?

While we are deprecating support for Malay, Kazakh, and Hindi for the user interface of Access and Publisher, there is no change for the rest of the Office suite, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote. Malay, Kazakh, and Hindi will continue to be supported just as they are today in those programs. The change to the desktop applications only affects Access 2016 and Publisher 2016 on Windows.

What happens if I use Access or Publisher with one of these languages?

Any localized strings in the user interface - buttons, menus, etc. - will gradually revert to English.

Just display settings?

Yes, for Access 2016 and Publisher 2016, this change affects only the menus, buttons and other user interface elements in each program. Proofing tools such as the spellchecker will continue to be supported in these languages as they are today.
