Cancel Office 365 Home, Office 365 Personal, or Office 365 University
Use these instructions if you need to cancel a Office 365 Home, Office 365 Personal, or Office 365 University subscription that you're currently paying for. If you bought your subscription through a third-party, like Best Buy, you’ll have to contact them to cancel your subsription.
Sign in to the https://account.microsoft.com/services page with the Microsoft account associated with your Office 365 subscription. We can help if you can't remember the Microsoft account or password you use with Office.
Look for the Cancel link or Expires on date.
If you see a Cancel link under the subscription name, select Cancel. You might be given the choice to get a refund for unused time. If you choose to get a refund, the subscription will go into View Only or reduced functionality mode immediately. Otherwise, you'll have access to your subscription until it expires.
If you don't see an option to Cancel, you might have turned off automatic renewal and won't receive additional charges. You don't need to cancel. Your subscription will end on the Expires on date.
If you don't see an option to Cancel, and you see Paid with and None, your subscription will end on the Expires on date. There's no need to cancel because you won't receive additional charges.
Office will run in View Only or reduced functionality mode and will show Unlicensed Product notifications. You’ll still be able to open and print your documents but you won’t be able to edit them or to create new ones. You’ll also lose access to the services that are included with your subscription, such as extra OneDrive storage and Skype minutes. If you have an Office 365 Home subscription, this also applies to anyone you've shared your subscription with. You can uninstall Office from your PC and uninstall Office 2016 from your Mac at any time.
You may receive a refund if you:
Bought a yearly subscription within the last 30 days, OR.
Bought a monthly subscription, and cancel within 30 days of your last renewal date.
