Automatically save photos and videos with OneDrive for Android

Automatically save photos and videos with OneDrive for Android

The camera roll on your device only uploads to OneDrive - it does not sync photos both ways. That means you can delete uploaded photos and videos from your device, and the copies in OneDrive won't be affected.

To automatically upload your camera roll to OneDrive

  1. In the OneDrive app, tap the Me icon Person icon in OneDrive app for iOS at the bottom of the app.

  2. Tap Settings OneDrive settings then Camera upload.

Important: Camera Upload can only be used on one account at a time. If you are also a OneDrive for Business user, select the appropriate Camera upload account.

  3. Set Camera upload to On.

  4. To include folders such as Screenshots, tap Additional folders and switch on all the folders to be included to your Camera roll.

  5. To make sure videos automatically upload, turn on Include videos

  • To help preserve your device battery while downloading, select the Upload only when charging checkbox.

  • The OneDrive cloud icon may briefly appear in your Android notifications as part of the normal upload process.

If OneDrive camera upload isn’t working

If automatic camera upload isn’t working, or only some pictures are uploaded, follow these steps:

  1. In the OneDrive app, tap the Me Person icon in OneDrive app for iOS  then Settings OneDrive settings then Camera upload.

  2. Check that Camera upload toggle is switched on OneDrive app toggle .

  3. Check the Camera upload account is the correct account.

  4. If you're not connected to Wi-Fi, check Upload using is set to include mobile network.

  5. Check that the Upload only when charging checkbox isn't selected.

  6. If your videos are not showing in your camera roll, check that Include videos is set on.

  7. On This Day albums will only show if you have taken 10 or more photos on that day.

  8. If your camera upload is taking too long to set up or look for photos, without giving any error message, it could be because you have too many photos in your camera roll, or that you are out of storage space. Read What does it mean when your OneDrive account is frozen?
