If the Archiving service is not configured to start automatically or if the Archiving Server is stopped, you can start it manually.
If you experience trouble with the server or if you make configuration changes that require you to restart the service, you can stop the Archiving Server and then start it again.
Note: If archiving was configured as a critical service at the time that it was stopped, you will have to reconfigure it as noncritical before you can restart the service again.
If you want to remove an Archiving Server from your Office Communications Server environment, you must first deactivate the Archiving Server. The deactivation process disassociates any service accounts that were affiliated with the Archiving Server upon activation. The deactivation process also removes the server's entries in Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) so that the server can no longer be used by the pool.
