Page layouts that support using the Content Editor Web Part

Most Welcome Page page layouts support Web Parts, but some of them already have a Page Content field control.

A Page Content field control allows you to add the same kind of content that a Content Editor Web Part allows you to add. If you want to add text to a page that has a Page Content field control, you should consider adding the text by using the Page Content field control.

The following Welcome Page page layouts support using the Content Editor Web Part and do not have a Page Content field control. If you want to add text to pages that use these page layouts, you use the Content Editor Web Part:

  • Advanced Search

  • News Home

  • People Search Results Page

  • Search Page

  • Search Results Page

  • Site Directory Home

  • Welcome splash page

The following Welcome Page page layouts support using the Content Editor Web Part but already have a Page Content field control. You can add a Content Editor Web Part to pages that use these page layouts, but you should consider adding text by using the Page Content field control instead:

  • Intranet Home

  • Welcome page with summary links

  • Welcome page with table of contents
