Zoom in or out of a drawing

There are several ways to zoom in for a closer look at your Visio drawing and just as quickly zoom back out.

Note: Zooming in and out of a drawing has no effect on the drawing scale. Scale and degree of magnification are independent of each other.

What do you want to do?

Zoom by using the Zoom toolbar box

Zoom by using the Zoom menu command

Zoom by using the keyboard and mouse

Zoom by using the Pan & Zoom window

Zoom by using the wheel on a Microsoft IntelliMouse pointing device

  2. Do one of the following:

    • Click the left mouse button to enlarge the view.

Zoom by using the Pan & Zoom window

  1. On the View menu, click Pan & Zoom Window.

  2. In the Pan & Zoom window, if you do not see a red box, drag to create a red box.

  3. Resize the red box to fit the area that you want to magnify.

The larger the box, the more that you see of the page and the less the shapes are magnified. The smaller the box, the less you see of the page and the more the shapes are magnified.

Tip: In the Pan & Zoom window, you can also move the slider to zoom in or out of your drawing.
