Zoom a page in OneNote 2016 for Mac

While working in OneNote, you can easily customize the magnification level of a page to fit its contents to the size of your screen. OneNote will remember the zoom setting you’ve applied to each individual page in your notebook, even if you shut down and restart OneNote. Zooming a page does not change its formatting in any way, so you can safely zoom in and out of pages as often as you want to.

  1. On the ribbon, select the View tab.

  2. Do any of the following:

    • Select Zoom Out (or press Command + "-") to show more of your notes on the screen in less detail. This option makes text and objects smaller. You can select this button multiple times in a row to decrease the magnification level of the current page.

    • Select Zoom In (or press Command + "+") to show less of your notes on the screen in more detail. This option makes text and objects bigger. You can click this button multiple times in a row to increase the magnification level of the current page.

    • Select the drop-down arrow next to the Zoom box to quickly select a pre-set magnification level (for example, 200%). This is a faster way to control the zoom level of a page than selecting the Zoom Out and Zoom In buttons repeatedly. Use this option to revert the zoom level of any page to 100%.

    • Type a specific percentage number into the Zoom box and then press the Return key to quickly apply a specific magnification level that’s not easily accessible through any of the other zoom options (for example, 365%).

    • Select Page Width to automatically zoom the contents of the current page to the maximum width of your screen. Select this button again whenever you’ve made significant changes to your notes on the current page and you want to re-adjust its zoom level.

Tip: To quickly reset the zoom level of the current page to 100%, select View > Reset Zoom on the menu bar, or press Command + 0 (zero) on your keyboard. If you want to set the default zoom level of all notebook pages to something other than 100%, click OneNote on the menu bar, click Preferences, and then click View to change the Default zoom level option.
