With the cut, paste, and copy commands as well as Clipboard, Office lets you move text, graphics, and more in a file or across the apps.
Select Cut or press Ctrl + X.
Select Paste or press Ctrl + V.
Note: Paste only uses your most recently copied or cut item.
Select Copy or press Ctrl + C.
After you’ve cut or copied content, like from the web or another app, select Clipboard in your app.
Click where you’d like your item to go in the file and then select it from the Clipboard.
Note: Clipboard only stores content up until you close an Office app or turn your computer off.
If you’re working with a lot of content, the cut, copy, and paste commands help move it around in a file or across the Office apps.
Cut and Paste is useful when you’d like to move an item from one point in your file to another.
Choose what you’d like to move and select Cut or press Ctrl + X.
Place your cursor where the cut object should go and then select Paste or press Ctrl + V.
Copy and Paste lets you keep content where it originally is in the file, but also have it appear elsewhere.

Decide where the copied elements should go and select Paste.
If you’re working between apps, Clipboard is a convenient way to move text and images.
It stores anything you’ve cut and copied — like from the web or another app — and lets you paste the items into any Office file.
We'll Copy this text from the web and back in our Office app, we'll select Clipboard.
The Clipboard task pane opens with all cut and copied items.
From here, choose where your item should go and then select it from the Clipboard.
