Change the look of text

Change the look of your text with different fonts, sizes, colors, and effects.

Change the font

  1. Select the text you want to change.

  2. Select Font.

  3. In the drop-down menu, select the font you want.

Change the font size

  1. Select the text you want to change.

  2. Select Font Size.

  3. In the drop-down menu, select the size you want.

    Or, type the size you want in the Font Size box. You can also use the Increase Font Size and Decrease Font Size buttons.

Change the look of fonts

  1. Select the text you want to change.

  2. Select an option: Bold, Italics, Underline, Font Color, and Text Highlight Color.

    Note: Depending on the app, you might see other options, such as Text Effects and Typography in Word or Text Shadow in PowerPoint.

    If you want more options, select the small arrow Font dialog box launcher in the Font group to open the Font dialog box.

Use new fonts and colors to jazz up your text.

To start, select what you want to change.

A mini-toolbar will appear with some quick formatting options.

You can make your changes here or on the Ribbon.

As you choose a different font, Office shows you a preview of what your text will look like.

It also remembers your Recently Used Fonts.

After changing the font, make the text bold, italicized, or underlined.

To change the Font Size, choose the down arrow.

There are also the Increase Font Size or Decrease Font Size buttons.

To make your text really pop, you can change the color, highlight text, and depending on the app you’re in, you can even add Text Effects or Shadows.

And if you need even more options, choose the arrow in the Font group.
