Align and position shapes

Align your shapes in straight lines with even spacing to give your diagram a polished look.

Position shapes manually

  1. Add a shape on the drawing page.

  2. Drag a second shape onto the drawing page, and position it near the first one.

    Alignment guides show how the two shapes align to each other.

  3. Continue to add shapes and check the alignment guides for even spacing.

Align and space shapes automatically

  1. Select the shapes you want to align.

    To align all the shapes on the drawing page, select a blank area of the page.

  2. Select Home > Position > Auto Align & Space.

Align shapes without changing the spacing

  1. Select the shape that the other shape will align to.

  2. Select the other shapes.

  3. Select Home > Align.

  4. Select an alignment option to preview the effect.

  5. Select an alignment that works for your diagram.

Set an equal distance between shapes

  1. Select the shapes you want to space.

  2. Select Home > Position > Spacing Options.

  3. Type in the distance between shapes.

  4. Select OK.
