Use the Quick Links web part

When you add a modern page to a site, you add and customize web parts, which are the building blocks of your page. This article describes the Quick links web part.

With Quick links, you can "pin" items to your page for easy access.

Add the Quick links web part

  1. If your page is not already in edit mode, click Edit at the top right of the page.

  2. Hover your mouse above or below an existing web part and you'll see a line with a circled +, like this:

  3. Click Circled plus sign used to add a modern web part to a page and then select the Quick links web part.

  4. Type over the Quick links title to add your own title.

  5. Click the Edit web part Web part edit button button to set your options:

  6. Select Compact or Filmstrip, and choose whether to show an image by sliding the Show image in layout toggle to Yes or No. The size of the image you choose should depend on which layout you use. Images are automatically center-cropped.

Add links

  1. Click + Add.

  2. Choose a location from which to get your link:

    • Recent: If you have recently opened images, pages, or documents you'll find them listed here.

    • OneDrive: You can get a link for a document or image you have stored on OneDrive.

    • Site: You can get a link for a document, image, or page from a Site you specify.

    • Upload: You can upload a document or image from a personal device.

    • From a link: Enter a link for your page, document, or image from OneDrive for Business or SharePoint Online.

  3. Select your image, page, or document and click Open.

  4. In the toolbox on the right, you can add or change your title, Change the image, and add alternative text.

Edit links

  1. If your page is not already in edit mode, click Edit at the top right of the page.

  2. Click the Edit item pencil to the right of the item you want to edit. This will open the toolbox where you can change the link, image, title, and alternative text.

    To remove links, click the X for the item.

    To reorder links, drag and drop items to new positions using the Move button. Move button You can also reorder links using Ctrl + Left or Ctrl + Right arrow keys.

    Note: You cannot reorder links in the Filmstrip layout.
