Use a screen reader to title a table in Excel 2016

If you are including tables in an Excel 2016 workbook, it can be helpful to give each table a title. Use short titles to describe the information so that people who cannot see the data can understand what’s in the table.

Notes: 

Title the table

  1. Place focus anywhere in the table.

  2. Press Alt+J and then press A. You hear “Lower Ribbon. Table 1 (or the current table name). Properties Group box Table Name colon edit. Table 1 (or the current table name). To move through the controls on the ribbon, use Tab or Shift Tab or use the arrow keys. Alt followed by J, T, A.”

    The focus moves to the Table Name: box.

  3. Type the table name.

  4. Press Enter. Focus returns to the table
