Microsoft Office Starter 2010 provides the features necessary for basic word processing and spreadsheet tasks. However, if you are a student, if you are operating a home business, or if you are in another situation that necessitates a rich set of productivity software, you can easily upgrade from Office Starter to another Office suite. For example, you can upgrade to Microsoft Office Home and Business 2010, which includes Word 2010, Excel 2010, PowerPoint 2010, OneNote 2010, and Outlook 2010.

Your browser does not support video. Install Microsoft Silverlight, Adobe Flash Player, or Internet Explorer 9.
  1. In Word Starter or Excel Starter, on the Home tab, click Purchase, Button image, and then click Buy Microsoft Office.

  2. Follow instructions on the Web page for purchasing an Office product.

Note:  When you upgrade to another Office 2010 suite, Office Starter is no longer available on your computer, and you will no longer be able to create or maintain an Office Starter To-Go device.
