Update a shared query

You can replace or overwrite a shared query in Power Query You can only replace a shared query that is shared by you.

Update a shared query:

  1. From Power Query, sign in t Power BI. In the POWER QUERY ribbon tab, click Sign In. In the Sign In dialog box, click Sign In, and then enter your organizational account information that was used when you signed up for Power BI.

    Important    Signing in to Power BI using your organizational account enables you to view the queries that you shared within the organization. You cannot view/access your shared queries in Power Query if you are not signed in to Power BI.

  2. Import the newer version of data to the Excel sheet either by directly connecting to the appropriate data sources using Power Query or by importing the data from a newer version of the shared query. For more information, see Connect to Internal and External Data Sources and Find and Use Shared Queries.

  3. In the QUERY ribbon tab, click Send To Data Catalog.

  4. In the Send to Data Catalog form, click Update.

The selected shared query is overwritten with the newer version of the data source and updated metadata values specified in the Replace Existing Query dialog box.
