Note: If you don't see Focused and Other in your mailbox, you might have a Clutter folder instead. See Use Clutter to sort low-priority messages in Outlook for more information.

Follow the instructions for your version of Outlook.

New Outlook for Windows

  1. Select View > View settings.

  2. In Mail > Layout, go to the Focused Inbox section and select Don't sort my messages.

The Focused and Other tabs will disappear from the top of your mailbox.

Outlook 2016

  1. Select the View tab.

  2. Select Show Focused Inbox.

    The Focused and Other tabs will disappear from the top of your mailbox.

Note: If you don't see the button, your version of Outlook might not include this feature. We often release new features to members of the Insiders program first. After that, we release them via updates to your Office programs. You can always check for updates by selecting File > Office Account > Update Options > Update Now.

Outlook on the web and Outlook.com

Note: If the instructions don't match what you see, you might be using an older version of Outlook on the web. Try the Instructions for classic Outlook on the web.

  1. At the top of the page, select Settings Settings icon.

  2. In Mail > Layout, go to the Focused Inbox section and select Don't sort my messages.

Instructions for classic Outlook on the web

  1. Select Settings Settings icon > Display settings > Focused Inbox.

  2. Under When email is received, select Don't sort messages.

  3. Click OK.

Outlook for Mac (Legacy)

  1. On the Organize tab, select Focused inbox.

    The Focused and Other tabs will disappear from the top of your mailbox.

New Outlook for Mac

  1. In the Apple Menu Bar, select View.

  2. Select Turn on Focused Inbox to deselect it.

Mail for Windows 10

  1. Choose Settings button in Mail and Calendar for Windows 10 > Reading.

  2. Use the Sort messages into Focused and Other slider to turn Focused Inbox off.

    The Focused and Other tabs will disappear from the top of your inbox.

Outlook Mobile

  1. Swipe from to left or tap on your user icon to reveal the menu, then select Settings Settings icon.

  2. Scroll to the Mail section, deselect Focused Inbox.
