Microsoft OneNote lets you mark selected notes with so-called tags that let you quickly return to important items that you want or need to follow up on, remind yourself about, or share with others. You can tag anything from a single line of text to an entire paragraph of notes.
What do you want to do?
Apply a tag to a note
On a page containing one or several notes, do the following:
Place the cursor at the beginning of the line of text you want to tag.
On the Home tab, in the Tags group, click the icon of the tag that you want to apply. Use the up and down arrows next to the tags list to scroll through the available tags or click the More arrow in the bottom right corner of the scroll box to show all available tags.
Remove a tag from a note
Removing note tags is useful if you frequently search for tagged notes and you only want to see notes with tags that are current and relevant.
To remove tags from your notes when they are no longer needed, do either of the following:
To remove a single note tag, right-click it on the page, and then click Remove Tag on the shortcut menu.
To remove multiple note tags, select all of the text containing the tags you want to remove, and then press CTRL+0 (ZERO).
