You can tag a contact in order to receive an alert when the contact’s status changes from unavailable to available. If you want to tag somebody who is not on your Contact List, you must first add them to the list. For information about adding a contact to your Contact List, see Add a contact to your Contact List.
Note: If you select Status updates off when idle in Communicator Options, then you will not receive presence updates for tagged contacts when the device is idle.
To tag a contact
In the Contact List, click the name of the contact whose presence you want to monitor, and then click Actions.
Click Menu > Tag Contact.
Click Menu > Close.
Ensure that you also configure your Communicator Mobile and device Alerts settings as described in Configure alerts for presence status and incoming conversations.
If you want to stop receiving alerts for a particular user, repeat these procedures.
