In SharePoint lists II, you learned how to create lists based on templates that come with your team site. But what if you need to create your own custom list, a list with special columns that you define? This course will show you the ropes.

After completing this course you will be able to:

  • Create a custom list that contains columns with specific data types.

  • Create text columns that can store names, e-mail addresses, and more.

  • Create choice columns that allow people to choose values from a list.

  • Create a simple Yes/No column.

  • Create columns that use numbers, currencies, and calendar dates.

  • Create a calculated column.

  • Create columns that look up information from other sources.

  • Make data entry easier by changing the order of the fields.

  • Make useful views for the custom list.

Before you begin

This course requires experience working with SharePoint lists, or you can take Lists I: An introduction, Lists II: Create and work with different lists, and Lists III: Create a list based on a spreadsheet.
