Remove the current slide design (theme)

In PowerPoint, all presentations must contain a theme. In fact, when you open PowerPoint, the Office Theme is applied. The Office Theme is plain and it the closest to having no theme at all. That said, when you remove a theme, you must apply a different theme.

To change the current theme to another theme, do the following:

  1. On the Design tab, in the Themes group, click More (as shown below).

    Click the 'More' button

  2. Do one of the following:

    • Under Custom, choose a custom theme to apply.

    • Under Office, click a built-in theme to apply.

    • Click Browse for Themes, and then located and click a theme.

If your goal is to display little to no color in your presentation, (something plain with a white background), apply the Office Theme.

  1. On the Design tab, in the Themes group, click More.

  2. Under Office, locate and click the Office Theme.

    Choose the Office Theme
The Office Theme is a built-in theme
