Quick start: Open a document in Word Starter

After you have saved a file and closed it, you can open it again to resume your work. You don't have to open Microsoft Word Starter first. Double-clicking the file will open Word Starter.

Click the Start button, start button and then click Documents.

Find the file in the Documents folder, and double-click it.

The Word Starter startup screen appears, and the document is displayed.

Next steps

Now that Word Starter is running, you can open more documents from within the program. Here are two ways:

  • To browse for files in the Documents folder or other folders, click the File tab, and then click Open.


  • To open a file that you worked on recently, click the File tab, and then click Recent.


Tip    Office.com is continuously updated with new content, including how-to articles, videos, and training courses. If the bottom of the Help Viewer says Offline and you are connected to the Internet, click Offline, and then click Show content from Office.com.
