Power BI sites on Office 365
With the Power BI sites application, you can transform your SharePoint Online site into a more robust, dynamic location to share and find Excel reports, with a visual, interactive view tailored to BI. Power BI sites also provide easy access to other BI features available in Power BI for Office 365.
The Power BI sites app is available when you register for Power BI for Office 365. You can apply it to a new or an existing site in SharePoint Online Enterprise. Add the Power BI sites app to your Power BI site.
View a report on the Power BI site
You can view reports up to 250 MB in a browser on Office 365, if you save and enable them on the Power BI site.
If you haven’t done so already, save the report to a Power BI site.
Tip Don’t have a Power BI site? You may need to add the Power BI sites app to your Power BI for Office 365 site.
In the Power BI site, choose the report you want to view in the browser.
You may see an “Editing Restriction” message that the Data Model in the report is optimized for Web viewing. This means the report is larger than 10 MB. You can still view and interact with it in the browser, but you can only edit it in Excel.
Tips When the report opens, it has no menus, such as File and Edit Report. To see the menus, choose View full-size report in the lower-left corner.
You see the same reports in your standard SharePoint Documents library and in the Power BI site – the Power BI site is just another, richer view of those reports. If you delete a report from the Power BI site, you’re deleting it from the SharePoint Documents library, too.
The Power BI site currently only shows Excel reports stored on the site. If you have other files on the site, you can see them in the SharePoint Documents library, but not in the Power BI site view.
