Use this tab to override the default route for federation for a single Standard Edition server or Enterprise pool. The default route is the one configured at the global level for all servers in a forest. If the default route for federation routes messages to a Director, then the Director must be configured to overwrite the default route to route messages to an Access Edge Server (or load balancer for an array of Access Edge Servers).
Note: When you run the Configuration Wizard, this route is configured automatically.
Specify the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the Access Edge Server.
Specify the number of the listening port on the Access Edge Server. The default is 5061.

The default route for federation is the next hop server configured at the global level to which all internal servers running Office Communications Server in the forest send all outbound Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) traffic (that is, communication requests) to domains that do not match the SIP domains supported by your organization. When you enable federation on your network, you configure the default route at the global level for the forest on the Federation tab in Global Properties. You can override this setting for any single Standard Edition server or Enterprise pool.
If you are using a Director, typically, it is configured as the next hop server at the global level and then on the Director itself, you override this setting and configure the Access Edge Server (or load balancer for an Access Edge Server) as the next hop server.
