Personalize your Office 365 experience

Features in this article are available only in Office 365 for business.

Personalization capabilities are not available in Office 365 Home or Office 365 Personal subscriptions.

There are several ways you can personalize Office 365 and the Office 365 app launcher, to make it easier to use and to suit your personal style.

Note: To be able to customize your Office 365, your organization must have Exchange Online as part of your Office 365 for business subscription. (Exchange Online is used for your work or school email that you receive using Outlook or Outlook Web App.)

Change the Office 365 theme

The Office 365 theme sets the color scheme for the Office 365 navigation bar at the top of the screen. It also changes the color of some of the tiles in the App launcher to match.

  1. On the Office 365 navigation bar, click Settings Settings: update your profile, install software and connect it to the cloud > Change theme.

  2. Click a theme in the gallery and see it previewed on your screen. Click OK to set it as your theme.

Change your Office 365 start app

When you first sign in to Office 365, it opens on the Office 365 home page. To change your start page at any time to open in another Office 365 app, go to Office 365 settings.

  1. In theOffice 365 navigation bar at the top of the screen, click Settings Settings: update your profile, install software and connect it to the cloud > Office 365 settings.

  2. On the Settings tab, under Start page, click the arrow to open the list box and select the page you want, and then click Save.

    In this example, Office 365 will open first in OneDrive after sign-in.

Pin apps to the Office 365 navigation bar

Pin Office 365 apps to the navigation bar to have them instantly available, no matter what Office 365 page you're on.

  1. Click open the app launcher App launcher icon and point then decide which app you want to pin to your navigation bar. In the example below, we'll pin PowerPoint Online.

  2. Click (or tap) the ellipsis (...) on the tile, and then choose Pin to nav bar.

Personalize the app launcher

Resize tiles in the app launcher

  1. Click open the app launcher App launcher icon at the top of the page.

  2. Choose an app tile to resize and click More options More , then point to Resize.

  3. Click Small, Medium or Wide.

Remove tiles from the app launcher

  1. Open the app launcher, and choose the app you want to remove.

  2. Choose More options More > Unpin from app launcher.

Change the order of tiles

Choose a tile that you want to move, and then use your mouse to drag it to where you want it to appear on the app launcher.

In our example here, we're moving the PowerPoint Online tile on the app launcher from the bottom row to the top row.

Tip: For the best results, use your mouse—even if you're using a touchscreen device—to reorder your tiles on the app launcher.

Add apps to the app launcher

Any app available to your Office 365 subscription can be added to your app launcher.

  1. Choose the app launcher App launcher icon at the top of the page, and then choose View all my apps.

  2. Locate the app you want and choose More options More > Pin to app launcher.
