Manage app licenses

If you need to assign licenses for an app to specific users, buy more licenses for an app, add a license manager, or remove or recover an app license, you can do that all on the App License Management page.

You must be a designated License Manager for an app license or an admin (SharePoint Online admin or farm admin) to manage app licenses.

Note   The Office and SharePoint App Stores are optional services operated by Microsoft Corporation or its affiliate from any of Microsoft’s worldwide facilities. The apps available in the Store are provided by various app publishers, and are subject to the app publisher’s terms and conditions and privacy statement. Your use of any of these apps may result in your data being transferred to, stored, or processed in any country where the app publisher, its affiliates or service providers maintain facilities. Availability of specific apps and payment methods depends on your region and service. You can review the app publisher’s terms and conditions and privacy statements before downloading and using such apps.

  1. Go to Settings Office 365 Settings button > Add an app.

  2. In the navigation on the left, click Manage Licenses.

  3. Click the app for which you want to manage license information. Or search to find the app you want.

  4. On the App License Management page, do any of the following:

To do this:

  1. Under View a purchase, click the arrow next to Actions, and then click Recover license.

  2. On the Details page for the app in the SharePoint Store, click More Actions, and then click Recover license again.

  3. When prompted, sign-in with your Microsoft account.

Remove a license

  • Under View a purchase, click the arrow next to Actions and then click Remove this license.
