Use the Contacts list to call a internal co-worker or federated contact (outside partners whose company is federated or connected to yours), or call an outside number by typing the number in the search box.

When you first sign in to Lync on your Windows Phone, you’ll be guided to update your mobile number, which will let you make and receive calls from Lync. Then when you make a work call, the call is routed to Lync Server 2010, which calls you back at your mobile phone number. After you answer the call, Lync Server places the call to the call recipient.

What do you want to do?

Turn on Mobile phone number

The Mobile phone number that is specified is used by Microsoft Lync Server 2010 to set up outgoing work calls. When you make a work call, the call is routed to Lync Server 2010, which calls you back at your mobile phone number. After you answer the call, Lync Server places the call to the person who is going to receive the call.

When you first sign in to Lync on your Windows Phone, you’ll be guided to enter your mobile phone number. Later, you can update your mobile number by doing the following:

  1. From any screen, tap the More (…) icon at the bottom, and then tap settings.

  2. On the settings screen, under Mobile phone number, enter your mobile phone number.

Important:  When you update your mobile phone number in the My Mobile Number setting, you’ll also need to update your Simultaneously Ring or Call Forwarding options.

Make a call

Calls made using Lync are not Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). When you make or receive a Lync call, it will ring on your mobile phone and your carrier’s minutes are being used. Also, when you make Lync call, your work phone number is displayed on the caller ID.

  1. From the contacts screen, tap search, and then start typing a person’s name in the search box.

  2. When you find the contact you’re looking for, tap the contact’s name and select the number you want to call. Or, tap the phone icon to call the work number.

  3. When the call is placed, you’ll first need to accept the incoming Lync call in order to make the outgoing call.

Receive a call

When a Lync contact calls you, the incoming call comes in as regular call on your mobile phone.
