Learn about the Outlook.com beta

Get more out of your email with the Outlook.com beta. We've streamlined search to make it easier than ever to find and send messages, and new features like Photos and attachment previews let you see your pictures and files without leaving your inbox. Joining the beta is easy—just follow the instructions below.

Why should I try the beta?

We've improved search and added contact cards to the top of your search results, making it easy to find what you're looking for. Plus, new innovations like Photos and Expressions let you see all your pictures in one place and add emojis and GIFs to your messages.

How do I join or leave the beta?

To join the beta, select the Try the beta toggle at the top right corner of the screen. To leave the beta, select the toggle again.

Why can't I join the beta?

We are releasing the beta in stages. If you don't see the Try the beta toggle, it should become available in a couple of weeks.

Note: If you're using Internet Explorer 10, Safari 8 or an earlier version of Safari, you won't see the Try the beta toggle. Try using a different web browser to opt in to the beta.

How do I give feedback?

We'd love to hear from you. To share your thoughts, go to the Outlook.com beta UserVoice forum. You can vote on the ideas or issues that you'd like to see addressed, and we'll respond directly to the top comments and suggestions.

Which version am I using?

Sign in to Outlook.com and go to Mail. If the bottom left corner looks like this, you're using the beta:
