Job Estimates vs. Actuals Summary report: options and information

Available in Microsoft Office Accounting Professional 2008 only.

The Job Estimates vs. Actuals Summary report contains information that you can use to compare your project plans to actual results. This report provides you the necessary information, in a macro level, of the manner of progress in the various jobs/projects that are currently undertaken by your company.

The comparative format gives the required information readily so that your attention gets focused on the particular jobs/projects and the data furnished by them. You can, at a glance, ascertain the health of each job/project by comparing the estimates and the actuals, enabling you to take the necessary corrective steps if there are large variances between the estimates and the actuals. The report displays basic information, such as revenues and costs, in pounds sterling and percentages. You can use this information to determine how your job success compares to your plans. You can use additional column options to view the variance in percentage terms. The report displays the period All, but you can modify the period by using the Date toolbar or the Select Filter Options dialog box.

In the Job Estimates vs. Actuals Summary report, you can do the following:

  • Click a column heading to sort all report contents by that column.

  • Double-click a row to open the Job Estimates vs. Actuals Detail report for the customer on that row. You can then double-click each line item in the newly opened report to open the original transaction forms associated with that customer.

    Note: If you open a report and edit an underlying document, you need to refresh the report to see the effect of your changes. Click Refresh Report   Button Image on the toolbar or press F5.

When you move the mouse cursor over information that is linked to additional details, the cursor changes to a pointing finger. This indicates you can double-click that location to display associated information, such as opening the original transaction document.

To open this report, point to Jobs and Time on the Reports menu, and then click Job Estimates vs. Actuals Summary.
