IMSUB function

This article describes the formula syntax and usage of the IMSUB function in Microsoft Excel.

Description

Returns the difference of two complex numbers in x + yi or x + yj text format.

If you just want to subtract two numbers that are not complex, see Subtract numbers.

Syntax

IMSUB(inumber1, inumber2)

The IMSUB function syntax has the following arguments:

  • Inumber1    Required. The complex number from which to subtract inumber2.

  • Inumber2    Required. The complex number to subtract from inumber1.

Remarks

  • Use COMPLEX to convert real and imaginary coefficients into a complex number.

Example

Copy the example data in the following table, and paste it in cell A1 of a new Excel worksheet. For formulas to show results, select them, press F2, and then press Enter. If you need to, you can adjust the column widths to see all the data.
