I don't see all my items in the item list

Cause: Unified inbox is turned off.

Solution:    Turn on the unified inbox.

If you have multiple accounts added to Outlook, you can view the contents of all the together. This feature allows you to see all your new messages without having to switch between different folders.

  1. On the Outlook menu, click Preferences.

  2. Under Personal Settings, click General  General Preferences button .

  3. Select the Group similar folders, such as Inboxes, from different accounts check box.

Cause: Category filters are on.

Solution:    Turn off category filtering in the navigation pane.

Category filtering is available in the navigation pane for Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, and Notes. If you use category filtering to hide some categories of items, the filters remain in effect until you turn them off. A dash in a check box in the navigation pane indicates that some categories in that folder are currently hidden.

  • To show all the categories in a folder, click the check box containing the dash.

    The dash turns to a check mark, and all categories in that folder are displayed.

Cause: On My Computer folders are hidden.

Solution:    Show the On My Computer folders.

Outlook allows you to hide folders that save items locally on your computer. This feature is primarily for people who have a Microsoft Exchange account, in which all items are saved on the Exchange server. But if any items have been saved to a folder on your computer, you will not be able to see those items if the On My Computer folders are hidden.

  1. On the Outlook menu, click Preferences.

  2. Under Personal Settings, click General  General Preferences button .

  3. Clear the Hide On My Computer folders check box.

Cause: The Search tab is currently in use.

Solution:    Close the Search tab.

If you do a search for Outlook items, the search results continue to be displayed, even if you click a different tab. This illustration shows the purple Search tab, which indicates that a search is still active and that search results are currently displayed.

  • To cancel the search, click the Search tab, and then click Close.

    Tip: You can also cancel a search by clicking a different folder in the navigation pane.
