Templates that you create are showing up neither in the Recent Publications list nor in the My Templates catalog.
Only publications, and not templates, are usually displayed in the Recent Publications list. The My Templates catalog shows templates that are saved to the default template location (for Microsoft Windows XP, the C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates folder). If your templates are not listed in My Templates, they may not currently be saved in the default location.
If a template has been saved to a location other than the default location, open the template and save it to the default location, or move or copy the template to the default location.
After the template is available at the default location, you can quickly open it by clicking New on the File menu, and then clicking My Templates.
Tip: The default template location for Microsoft Windows XP is the C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates folder.
Find the default template location on your computer
Create a new test publication.
On the File menu, click Save As.
In the Save as type list, click Publisher Template.
Click the arrow in the Save in box, and then make a note of the location of the highlighted folder in the list.
This folder is the default template location, where Publisher looks for templates.
In the Save As dialog box, click Cancel.
On the File menu, click Close.
If you are prompted about saving the publication, click No.
Move existing publication templates to the default template location
If Publisher is running, exit the program.
In Windows XP, click Start, and then click My Documents.
If the template or templates that you want to move are not located in My Documents or its subfolders, click Search on the Start menu, click All Files and Folders, type in appropriate search criteria, and then click Search.
Click the file that you want to move.
Note: To select more than one file, click the first file, and then hold down CTRL while you click the additional files.
On the Edit menu, click Move To Folder.
In the Move Items dialog box, browse to and select the default template location, and then click Move.
