Highlight text for emphasis in OneNote for Mac

If you like to mark important parts or sections in your notes, use the OneNote for Mac highlighter tool. You can also easily remove the highlighting or change the color at any time in any of your notes.

Apply highlighting

  1. Select the words you want to highlight.

  2. On the Home tab, click the Text Highlight Color button.

Change the color of highlighting

You can change the highlighter color anytime.

  1. Select the words.

  2. On the Home tab, click the arrow next to the Text Highlight Color button and select a color.

Remove the highlighting

  1. Select the highlighted words.

  2. On the Home tab, click the arrow next to the Text Highlight Color button and choose No Color.

    Tips: 

    • To remove all highlighting from a paragraph, select the entire paragraph, click the arrow next to the Text Highlight Color button, and choose No Color.

    • To quickly select an entire paragraph, triple-click any word in the paragraph.
